I used to live in the east bay back in 89, then bounced around SF, San Mateo and Humboldt for a while before settling in here is sunny Sandy Eggo.

really where? I was living there then. In Alameda.Talk about a great place to be back then huh? The band were playing great ( don't listen to Cliff people ) and playing more shows than I could afford. But of course I went anyway.

no wonder you moved. Just kidding. i lived there when I was a baby.

Hey Charlie, great seeing you not be a stranger around here these days. Thanks for all the music you've shared.

btw - you're associated with SKB, where you up here in AK for those 2002 shows? some of the best shows I've EVER seen including the Dead. Too bad he'll never come back ( not turn out from stupid Alaskans )

No turnout for Kimock here in Spokane, probably between 50 and 100. At that time I realized if there is someone coming here I really like I need to try and get everyone I know to go, which I know do. What a great band he had. The one silver lining to it besides getting to hear SKB was I got to stand directly in front of him throughout the evening.

Saw SKB on 4/27/05. Yes, sure put me in that zone. More so than any other band except the GD...enjoy lots of others but Kimock takes me to that special place.

The same thing happened here in St. Louis. Well we had a decent turnout in 2004, but 2000 was low, and when Kimock and Melvin Seals were here last summer, it was the same night as Phish and these local hacks of a GD cover band were starting back their weekly Tuesday night shows, so all the gutter punk hippies were too busy for Kimock. Oddly Melvin spends most of his time now with the people that operate the GD hack band. Or rather the GD hack guys are riding Melvin and Stu's coattails. Surprisingly Steve has stooped to play their festival. He shouldn't do that, he should be in a real venue, he's far too good/classy for a cover band festival. Come back, Steve!!!

yeah it's a real shame. He brings the magic more than any of them imo. HUGE factor imo why Phil's post GD bands were playing THE best music in a long long time including the GD. I never really liked Phil's stuff after Steve and him broke up. Still wonder what could have been that bad that they've NEVER play together since.

I remember hearing a couple of things, correct me if I'm wrong on if these are just rumours. One is with the Other Ones, Steve said that they just didn't get along, that was a general comment. The other was that Jill Lesh and Steve clashed and it was about how much equipment Steve was carrying around. I think that was the big moment that led him to jump ship.

that's more than what I heard.Thanks.Why would equipment matter to anyone other than the roadies that have to haul it?

I heard rumors of a clash between him and Jill Lesh but didn't hear it was about equipment. I heard it had something to do with drugs or wanting more money. The last one seems plausible to me because the cool local venue that brought him up years ago said he asked a LOT more than other bands. As A result they lost money so won't be bringing him back up.I don't know if that's true and it pisses people off to be spreading rumors, that's just what I heard.

To me it must be bad to NEVER associate at all ever anymore. I mean Bob played with him awhile back remember? So did the Rhythm Devils if I recall. Of course Steve didnt have the same association with them but still. If he had been aboard all these projects I'm convinced they would have ALL been much better

Saw him with Ratdog 3 years ago when Mark Karan was being treated for cancer and two years ago with Mickey Hart Band, both at 10,000 Lakes Feastival. Always a thrill.

Alaska was June 2001 and no, I didn't go. I was following Kimock around in 2001, but didn't become 'official' crew till Feb 2002.

damn, time flies. great quality recordings though. I remember all these mics on the stage which wasnt even knee high. fantasic shows. We don't get much worth seeing up here unfortunately. Kimock and Los Lobos are pretty much the best that's come up here.

OOOPS! How the HELL could I forgotten that one? My favorite band besides the GD. Well maybe because we got dumped on by rain and all the annoying people that talked throught the whole show. Good show though. Only ONE recording that I know but thankfully it sounds fantastic

oh I gotcha! Hey man, you make no secret that the band makes you puke you're pretty vocal about that. So I should be able to make a jab because I happen to think those were pretty good years for the band. The best consistently since the late 70's imo.

but hey at least we both agree that 68-74 are THE BEST years for the band. This shouldnt even be open for discusion should it?
